Kyoto at Soho Place

Kyoto at Soho Place

Not even a week has past and this evening we went to the next show. This time Kyoto at sohoplace - the new theatre in the West End.

This play is not fiction, it’s modern history. A dramatization of the 1997 UN climate conference in Kyoto, which saw the signing of the first legally binding climate treaty.

Closing thoughts of the first act:

This is a damning representation of the USA, that does no favours in improving my view of it.

Ballet Shoes at the National Theatre

Ballet Shoes at the National Theatre

Yesterday evening I went to see Ballet Shoes at the National Theatre, with my wife and aunt. It was an excellent production. Something that leaves you thinking about it for days afterwards.

The cast were excellent of course. We had Katie Singh for Sylvia, the understudy for Pearl Mackie. In the play there’s a scene where Pauline Fossil gets into a fight and loses the lead for a play to become the understudy. What is this blog for?

When I started this website, it was merely out of regret that I hadn’t dedicated any time to my previous website, and the want to claim this domain (samson.is-a.dev).

New year’s resolutions “Ins” and “Outs”

I don’t like “Resolutions”. I’m not resolving to do anything. And I don’t like setting a goal for the year because it implies that when it’s done, I’m done with the resolution.

Instead, this year I’m doing “ins” and “outs”.

Ins

  • Go outside every day
  • Go to the theatre at least once a month
  • Make an effort to get to know my friends better
  • Try to get better sleep hygiene

Outs

  • Working early or late
  • Delaying from making dinner until it’s too late and then ordering takeaway
  • Not leaving the house until the afternoon on weekends

Obviously it’s early days yet. I had Covid at the start of the year, so that didn’t help 1 and 3 on the “ins”. I’m not doing tracking. And it’s currently nearly 3am and I’m working on this site, so the sleep hygiene isn’t going too well either.
